ABOUT THUMBTACK MEDIA FOUNDER, JENNY PERKINS

My name is Jenny Perkins, and I founded Thumbtack Media in 2004, before any of the big Austin music and entertainment PR agencies were even around.

Back then, I was sending out press kits in bubble mailers with CD’s and one sheets, and running publicity, booking, and management for bands like Milton Mapes, Monahans, Moonlight Towers, What Made Milwaukee Famous, Robyn Ludwick, Nano Whitman, and more.

I was doing all of this for nearly a decade, while also working full-time in tech, and later, being a stay-at-home mother to my two boys (now teenagers!), so that as a trained musician (that didn’t/doesn’t perform any more), I could stay connected to the music industry and process in some way.

Due to personal reasons, I stepped away from working with any music or entertainment clients for a decade, and instead focused on consulting with nonprofits, Fortune 1000 organizations, and startups on their marketing, public relations, social media management, content creation and delivery, as well as their strategy, events and more. After that long hiatus of not working in music and entertainment, I finally returned in mid-2022, while still working in all of the previous verticals of the past decade.
